New board heads signal renewed focus for AMAA

The AMAA Board of Directors has welcomed Evolve Media’s James Perry to the role of Chair this month. James has made a valuable contribution to the Board of Directors since 2013, representing member services for Digital publishers. Perry’s appointment to the role of Chair will strengthen the AMAA’s focus on digital media and the evolution of the AMAA’s digital verification services.

Perry brings to the AMAA Board of Directors his extensive experience in both print and digital media, both here and the UK. After a career as Digital Sales Director for ACP (now Bauer) and EMAP in 2009 he launched Evolve Media in Australia (under the GorillaNation name), which is both a digital publisher of sites such as musicfeeds.com.au and mumtastic.com.au and the worlds largest online ad sales rep firm, representing over 500 leading web publishers and providing integrated digital media campaigns for brand advertisers.

Perry said "I welcome the opportunity to chair the AMAA working with the AMAA’s board of directors to offer guidance at a time of immense change in the publishing industry and the industry approach to media audit and digital verification."
 

The AMAA is also pleased to welcome Michael Wilkins from News Corp to the Board, who will assume the role of Deputy Chair, representing the Community Newspapers group. Wilkins has enjoyed an extensive journalistic and management career at News Corp. Wilkins career has involed senior editorial roles of leading metro mastheads The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph, heading up North Queensland News as General Manager, as well as roles as News’ Group Editorial Business Manager and General Manager of Operations (NSW) before assuming his current role as General Manager, NewsLocal in 2013

Of his appointment to the board, Wilkins said, "At a time when media consumption and buying is more complex than ever, it's important the AMAA provide a sound source of truth in measurement for publishers and agencies alike."

Chris Nolan, Chief Executive Officer, Starcom MediaVest is welcomed to the AMAA Board representing Media Agencies. Chris has been with Starcom MediaVest, one of the country’s largest media agencies, since 2005 and moved from the role of COO to CEO in 2013. Prior to this he has enjoyed a long career in Australia’s leading media agencies including being Managing Partner at Mitchell & Partners prior to joining SMV.

AMAA CEO, Josanne Ryan said she was pleased to have Perry and Wilkins more actively involved with the board in their respective specialities and took the opportunity to thank Harley Slatter, Managing Director of Slatter & Partners Communications and Kylie McBride, previously Commercial Director of News Corp newsXtend, for their contributions as Chair and Deputy Chair respectively.
